1:55 PMJust now, I was thinking about the ramifications of identifying myself as a Christian. Christianity for me is not just a religious concept or a particular way of living, but it also entails a rich/dark history. Therefore, when I label myself in this way, I become the face of a long lineage of people who also once called themselves Christian. It can be a big burden actually, considering that people somehow also hold me responsible for the evils that my predecessors have committed. Whether we are aware of it or not, history makes up a big chunk of our shadowy personality. Sometimes, people would also straight up choose to deny or repress parts of history that are considered shameful, evil or personally unrelatable. No matter what we do though, history does shape who we are today. Awareness and acceptance helps improve our self-knowledge and helps us move on in a way from the past. We can't always pick and choose. Everything in life comes in packages/baggages. Life is like a surprise bag. Even though you might not like all the candies or toys in the bag, you get what you get. Take the quality of being passionate. Perverse that and you might get obsession and addiction. #twofacesofthesamecoin An interesting topic to think about. Identity. Thoughts. Perspectives. Anyway, it is really interesting for me to see how a network of keywords/concepts can define who we are and how we behave when we choose to identify with them. Though, we are not just identifying with a word per se but with all the ramifications/implications of that word. It is like a game. You get to personalize your character. Mage. Assassin. Swordsman. Different functions and abilities. Sometimes I ask myself though why don't I try harder to level up myself in real life instead of playing games. Perhaps too lazy to read all the guidelines on how to operate me? Much complex this game of life. Rated mature. Would be nice to have a reset button. But you see, the problem with the reset button is that you will have to start the whole damned story all over again, going through the same scenarios, the same dialogues. Thankfully, when we choose to start afresh in life again, we get to be part of a new story. More interesting like that no? You get to write either a sequel to the previous story or just start something completely afresh. In the second case, a change of setting usually helps too. Now a good thing about a new story is that you don't know what is going to happen. So you become more engaged and more eager to find out the rest of it. Suspense and surprises. Keep also in mind that you are not the only players in this game, so in cases of technical difficulty, remember to call up other people for technical assistance. Lastly, make sure to choose wisely the kind of game you want to play.
