Significantly Trivial

A lot happened this week.

New understanding, especially new ways of relating to people.

Backtracking a little bit.

@Platypus Worship gathering.
We don't actually worship platypuses but point taken.
#saynotoidols
Anyway, just chatting the night away as usual with em peeps and an interesting topic was brought up. Apparently, Montreal is shrouded in this dark and negative energy when you compare it with other Canadian cities, such as Toronto or Calgary. That got me speechless. Personally, I did grow up hating Montreal. But recently, there was a change of heart. It's those little things. Like the proximity of everything for example or the convenience of getting around to places. Though it is super chilly outside, you don't actually spend that much time walking in the cold. We have warm subway. And the scenery. My eyes go BING BANG POW sometimes. Do practice this exercise in your own city. Try imagine you are in a movie scene next time you take that morning stroll.
Errthing will look fiiine.
You start noticing the little details.
And your gallop will become that much more elegant too.
Anyway, all this to say that I am a proud Montrealer.
#abouttime
But I digress.
So that's why I didn't get why my peeps was hating on my city.
"Why can't everyone just get along?" *sob* *wail* *sigh*

@Atwater mall
Multitasking = walking + trying to type out a new blog post (coming out soon!). Although I was focused on my phone, I was also quite aware of the mall-ers around me. I headed full throttle to the metro (subway) like a dart until another divergent dart appeared. Wild it was.
#pkmnjoke
I am not quite sure about the maths behind both our trajectories, but there was a collision. Find the intersection. No big deal. But the direct f(x) decided to rub it in. F for female. She was female you see.
"Watch where you are going, esti (swear in Quebec French)"
Initially, I wasn't too fazed. Prolly too focused on blogging.
Never ask a guy to multitask btw.
After the facts:
"Wait a minute...."
#whatjusthappened
So that's what this was all about!
#rudeawakening
It wasn't the city that was cursed. It was the people.

~Thursday (the days are really arbitrary btw, just trying to create a sense of progression trolol)
@Sherbrooke Street
So this girl approached me. #myluckyday?
She was just asking me for directions to the closest metro station.
Something caught me off guard though.
There was initially this feeling of repulsion in me. #iknow
Thought bubble, "What does she want from me? Someone save me. I don't want to talk to strangers!"
And I understood.
People weren't cursed. They have trust issues, especially towards strangers.
Montrealers could find you weird:
- if you talked to them
- if you made eyes contact with them
- if you walked too closely to them
In short, keep your distance and mind your own damned business.
#thatswhattheysaid
We all have our suspicions alright? Strangers are all evil. And candies are poisonous. Certainly run when you see a van.

@Provigo

I am a believer of music, all kinds of music. I believe you can find meaningful truths even in the MrsSwifts.
#optimistic (that she would finally settle down one day)
#imafan
Doing my groceries jamming on the song above on repeat = good feelings.
Has any of you watched the anime 'Fruits Basket' btw?
Well my basket was full of them.
#smoothiefast
So I never sort out fruits in those provided bags. I like to have my lazy ways sometimes aight? And I like to have my fruits run free... #commandostyle #totallywrong ...on the conveyor belt.
The female cashier, noticing my free darlings, remarked,
"Son why ain't you put em fruits in em bags?" (She was of black descent)
Me goes,
"Oh, I never thought about it. It's easier my way anyway."
She goes,
"Well it'd be easier for us cashiers if you put em in em bags."
Then something interesting happened. This middle aged customan in front of me, while still trying to gather his produce, gave me this look.
Interpretative dub:
----> "UH HUH"
----> "Why don't you do what she says?"
----> "Punk"
#datsass (sass not ass)
Trust me when I say I'd be quite annoyed in normal circumstances. But luckily for me, mah gurl TayTay spoke some sense to me:
"just shake, shake, shake, shake, shake it off."
What went around finally came back around.
My conclusion:
We might not be able to control what other people say or how they react to us, but we can certainly shake em off, as in we don't have to let them affect us in a negative way, emotionally. It is all perception baby. And let me tell you that you can certainly choose joy in every and any circumstance. A little music always helps too.
RECAP
It is of utmost importance:
1. how we perceive and interpret a social situation
2. how we manage our affective behaviors = emotions

We can indeed choose what we want to get out of any given situation

@McGill Station
I got off the metro like dis.
I walked like I meant it.
In a straight line I went.
Zigzagging through the human traffic.
Marching proudly forward.
All in fast mo.
*now in slowmo*
I got to this contested point where both me and this girl were trying to get on the staircase.
But who would concede first?
Audience waiting impatiently. All eyes riveted. Breathing stopped.
I pointed my arm forward motioning her to go ahead.
A nice pleased expression glowed on her face as if she was expecting the worst scenario.
That's what you call #trugratitude
& she gladly accepted the offer.
"SCORED!", all neural cells fired at once in mah brain.
A sense of accomplishment. I was proud of myself.
#innocence
I think I finally got it.
I mean it is important to guard your heart and to be socially aware and all that jazz, but NEVER forget to add love on top of everything.
Haterz are going to hate but let's be reminded to go that extra mile with em.
